In the mid 1990’s, while visiting the monastery at EWTN, Mother Angelica, Foundress of EWTN, asked Jim and Joanne Wright to go back home to Buffalo and start a Catholic radio apostolate. Jim and Joanne did not have any radio or media experience. After prayerful discernment, The Station of the Cross was started with the goal of bringing Catholic radio to Western New York.
After overcoming a number of challenges, The Station of the Cross began broadcasting as WLOF 101.7 FM Buffalo on August 15, 1999, and is dedicated to Our Lady of Fatima.
WHIC 1460 AM Rochester began broadcasting on July 1, 2003. WHIC is dedicated to Our Lady’s Holy and Immaculate Conception.
WQOM 1060 AM Boston began broadcasting November 1, 2010 and is dedicated to Our Lady Queen of Martyrs.
WMTQ 88.1FM Elmira/Corning began broadcasting February 7, 2011, and is dedicated to Mary the Queen.
WTMI 88.7 FM began broadcasting on April 30, 2012, and is dedicated to Tyburn Mary Immaculate. The Station of the Cross Catholic Radio Network broadcasts quality Catholic programming 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The Station of the Cross has borne abundant fruit over the past 10 years and we believe that God is not finished with this radio apostolate. We hope to bring Catholic radio to even more markets.
